5/3/2023 0 Comments Room sketcher![]() This ends up creating a slightly lopsided floor plan since you can't get regular angles. It either always gives me 89.9 or 90.1 degrees, but it never lands on the number itself. It's really hard to get straight angles when you're drawing walls. Every time you move a wall so that it's momentarily not a fully enclosed room, it erases the floor and wall settings that you had, so you have to redo the walls and floor because it doesn't recognize that it's still the same room. If you want to make a curved or angled countertop you have to make a bunch of little countertops like pixels and make it curved yourself by filling in the area with all these tiny pieces into the shape you need it, which takes alot of time and then it also looks really bad from an aerial view to have a million pieces of countertop instead of one cohesive countertop. Sometimes I can’t find what I’m looking for but that’s hard given the variety of interior decor that exists/could exist. You can’t cut out pieces of a wall, which would be nice. If you have a layered item, like shelves, you can’t just move/make changes to the bottom shelf, you have to move each shelf on top of it to the side to get the bottom shelf, and then restack the other shelves. So you ended up moving something that you didn’t want to move, and you can’t grab the thing that you are trying to grab. You go to grab something and it grabs a thing that's an inch or two away from the thing that you wanted to grab. The grab tool is not very well calibrated. When i shifted to RoomSketcher the process was infinitely easier and the results amazing (so much more than a floorplan). ![]() It took me a couple hours to make a fireplace, and then I ended up having to move it. Reasons for Switching to RoomSketcher: Was not getting immediate results with the floorplan app (couldnt work out how to insert a door/window :( ). And then if you decide that that’s not the location you wanted to put it, you have to move a million little pieces individually, you can’t just move the one item that you made from a million tiny pieces. You have to use building blocks, tiles and kitchen cabinet panels to make a sort of grout. This becomes particularly frustrating when building from the ground up an item that’s not in the inventory in the style that you want it, like a fireplace. Cons: You can’t select a group of objects and move them as a unit. I see they’ve responded to every review left whether positive or negative. Customer service always answers your questions thoroughly. It’s like playing the Sims but you’re actually using it to make money.
